Instructor: Carl E. Schell has worked as a youth pastor (2 years) and founded an inner city youth outreach and family feeding program (10 years) in the States, he has directed missions in Peru since 1992, and was recently based in Costa Rica. He is the founder/director of the Amazon Basin Benevolent Association, INC. of New Smyrna Beach , Florida since 1994 (also called ABBA Latin Missions) and has led over 35 mission TEAM trips to Peru . He started out as a long-term missionary, but soon found his niche in supervising mission activities in person and directing staff by internet and by leading short-term mission teams. Leading teams, he successfully mixed nationals and visiting international volunteers in medical/dental/outreach campaigns (certain native indian villages were first time visits by Americans). He has traveled six times to Europe to many countries, speaks fluent Spanish, and is learning German and some French. Degrees include a B.A. in Theology, three course certifications in personality profiling and counseling, some master's level studies in Theology, Red Cross courses in Disaster Assessment/Logistics/Emergency Family Services, and past participation as an officer/member in numerous state/local ministerial committees and in various evangelistic crusade committees and related counseling activities.

  • Session 6: Ways to Sponsor your Trip.
  • Session 7: Post trip "Re-entry--Counter Culture Shock". Cultural considerations and taboos.
  • Session 8: Sample packing list.
  • Session 9: Spiritual Preparation.
  • Session 10: Spiritual Attitude Assessment.
  • Session 11: Team Preparation & selection of Team Leader/Translators/Language Preparation & Key Phrases (Spanish).
  • Final exam: Necessary for certificate of completion.

Course completion with the certificate/diploma and FREE assessment makes you an ABBA Associate. Associates may request to be included in future information for discounted costs on mission trips. Groups may request their own dates throughout the year. Trips include FREE DAYS with optional tourist activities included in the cost. Travel arrangements to San Jose, Costa Rica or Lima, Peru are your responsibility, but travel guidance is available upon request.
